Himeji

Shinkansen, Castle & Food

Once again we set out for the Shinkansen train, today we were heading to Himeji and its famous Himeji castle.

It only took 30 min with the bullet train from Osaka and it was time for lunch once we got there. Luckily we found some delicious Kobe beef rice bowls to nom down!

Since we'd already seen a couple of castles during our Japan visit so far we didn't expect to be wowed but we were wrong!
The castle and the castle grounds were huge!
The castle also "recently" underwent extensive renovations making it look even more impressive. The renovation was compelted in it reopened to the public in 2015 so it was even possible to tour the inside of the castle itself!

Once done with the castle and the castle grounds we walked the short path to the adjacent Kokoen garden. It was a beautiful garden but our feet were now aching and we cut the visit short and decided to head back to Osaka. To fill up our reserves we had an ice cream on the way!

The final evening in Osaka we walked back down to Dotonbori on the hunt for some Okonomiyaki, it did not dissapoint, it was very yummy! Magnus picked up some custard pies for dessert, a bit to sweet and too much vanilla for Malin but very nice according to Magnus.
